💜✨ 1.97 MILLION WOMEN OF COLOR IN VIRGINIA… AND OUR FOUNDER IS ONE OF THE 100! 🏆👏🏽

Out of approximately 1.97 million women of color in Virginia, our very own NaQuetta N. Mitchell, Founder & Executive Director of Women of Endurance, has been selected as a 2026 100 Women of Color Honoree! 🎉

As an organization, we are BEYOND PROUD! 💜

NaQuetta doesn't just lead an organization—she strengthens communities, creates pathways to opportunity, amplifies the voices of women, and turns compassion into meaningful action.

Through her vision and unwavering commitment to service, she is helping women overcome barriers, reclaim their power, and build stronger futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Her impact reaches beyond the women she serves—it creates a ripple effect of hope, empowerment, and lasting community change. 👑 We say all this while she is physically at a grocery store getting groceries for a forced single mom and her kids while they are displaced in a hotel.

💐 Help us celebrate a woman who doesn't just inspire change—SHE CREATES IT!
Drop a 💜 and share your congratulations!

With love and pride,

Women of Endurance 💜🩵

Today, Women of Endurance received the largest single donation in our organization’s history.

Sarah reached out to our Executive Director, NaQuetta Mitchell, and arranged to drop off a gift on behalf of an anonymous donor from outside of Virginia.

That gift was a $10,000 grant for general operating support. 🥹

As a Board, we are incredibly grateful for what this moment represents.

Someone miles away saw the work.
Believed in the mission.
And chose to invest in Women of Endurance in a major way.

General operating support allows us to strengthen the foundation behind the work you see every day—from programs and outreach to emergency support, operations, capacity, and the systems that help us serve women and families well.

To our anonymous donor: thank you for believing in this mission and trusting Women of Endurance with your generosity.

And to Sarah, thank you for being the bridge that brought this incredible gift to us.

This is a reminder to keep serving, keep building, and keep doing the work with integrity.

You never know who is watching—or how far the mission has traveled. 💜🩵

Today, September 25th, Women of Endurance remembers every child whose life was taken by violence and every family carrying the weight of that loss. 💜

Some grief changes you forever. There are empty seats, missed milestones, birthdays that feel different, and moments when one memory can bring both a smile and tears. Today, we honor those children by remembering their names, their stories, their laughter, and the lives they should still be living.

Through our Dear Mama Initiative, we have stood with mothers grieving the loss of a child to gun violence—reminding them that they do not have to carry this pain alone.

Their names matter. Their lives mattered. Their families still matter.

💜 THANK YOU, KIWANIS! 💜

On behalf of Women of Endurance- our founder went last week to thank this amazing organization in person for the grant she secured for us, we never take community support for granted. For the second year in a row, Kiwanis Club of Petersburg has chosen to invest in our Wrapped With Love Christmas celebration, and we are incredibly grateful.

This event allows us to surround children who have a parent who is deceased or incarcerated with gifts, a warm meal provided by Sunlight-Williams Elks Lodge #1558 , joy, and the reminder that their community sees them, loves them, and has not forgotten them. 💜🎄🎁

Thank you, Kiwanis, for believing in our mission and helping us continue this HeartWork.

And there is still room at the table! We are still welcoming volunteers, sponsors, donors, and community partners who want to help make Wrapped With Love special for the children we will serve.

Want to partner with us? Reach out via email founder@womenofenduranceva.org or Direct Message this page and help us wrap these children in LOVE this Christmas. 💜

📣 National Diaper Need Awareness Week | September 14–20 📣

A clean diaper is a basic need—not a luxury. Yet -1 in 2 families in the United States struggles to afford enough diapers for their children.

Diaper need is about so much more than diapers. When a parent is forced to choose between diapers and food, rent, transportation, or keeping the lights on, the well-being of the entire family is impacted.

And this week, we want our community to know something we are incredibly proud of:

💜 Women Of Endurance, through Ruth’s Closet, is part of the Virginia Diaper Bank Network and serves families across Hopewell, Petersburg, and Prince George. We are honored to help make sure families in our community have access to something every baby deserves—clean, dry diapers. 💜

For us, this work is about dignity. It is about easing one more burden for a mother who may already be carrying more than anyone realizes. It is about healthier babies, supported parents, and stronger families.

You can make a difference. Help us raise awareness about diaper need, support families experiencing diaper insecurity, and strengthen access to diaper resources throughout Virginia- so share this post. Your company or organization can really help by, hosting a drive for Women Of Endurance also.

Learn more about the Virginia Diaper Bank Network at their website.

🎉🥳 Congratulations to our Founder & Executive Director, NaQuetta Mitchell, on earning her Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University! 💜

We are incredibly proud of her continued commitment to learning, growing, and strengthening her leadership in service to women, children, and families throughout our community.

A special thank you to The Cameron Foundation and the Center for Nonprofit Excellence for continuing to invest in nonprofit leaders and helping strengthen the organizations doing this important work.

The Nonprofit Management Intensive Track selects up to 25 participants and provides in-depth training across eight key areas of nonprofit management, with courses led by experienced practitioners and scholars.

And when we say sacrifice… we mean it. Since April 2026, NaQuetta has quietly been attending this program in person at Virginia State University every other week, while continuing to lead, serve, parent, advocate, and pour into Women of Endurance.

Apparently, somebody forgot to tell our Founder there was supposed to be a summer break. 😂💜 #WhatSummerBreak

Congratulations, NaQuetta! We are proud of you and excited to see how this investment in your leadership continues to strengthen Women of Endurance as we prepare for our next chapter. Next Up.... Georgetown Nonprofit Management Executive Certificate 2027.

Women of Endurance has spent years serving, responding, growing, and carrying a lot behind the scenes. As we prepare for our next season, we are intentionally slowing down so we can strengthen the foundation of the organization.

Effective immediately and until further notice, Women of Endurance is entering an Operational Reset. 💜 This is not a shutdown, and our mission has not changed. Direct services will continue through our website and trusted community partner referrals, while programming, events, and new initiatives are limited.

This reset gives us space to strengthen systems, evaluate capacity, improve sustainability, and make thoughtful decisions about what moves forward.

Same mission. Stronger foundation. Sustainable future.

💜 Every commitment already made will be honored. Upcoming calendars, flyers, and volunteer opportunities are attached but can always be found on our social media outlets.

VAWA exists because survivors refused to remain silent.

On today (32 Years Ago) September 13, 1994, the Violence Against Women Act created critical federal protections and resources addressing domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.

Women of Endurance Board Members, stand firmly with survivors and remains committed to protecting the progress they fought to achieve.

That commitment is reflected through our S.H.I.E.L.D. program—*Supporting Her In Every Legal Dispute*—which helps survivors feel supported and empowered as they navigate court proceedings and systems that can often feel overwhelming.

No survivor should have to walk into a courtroom—or fight for her safety—alone.

As Congress approaches VAWA’s next reauthorization, we must demand that its protections and life-saving programs remain funded, strengthened and accessible.

Protect survivors. Fund the work. Reauthorize VAWA.
